It’s time for your big annual holiday and you just can’t wait! Plane tickets and accommodation booked and all that’s left is to pack your bag and head off on an adventure! But we all know that packing for travel is not as straightforward as it sounds. Here are some pitfalls and how you can avoid them.

Overpacking

You don’t want to find yourself without, so you bring everything including the kitchen sink. A lot of things simply aren’t necessary. Most likely things like towels and a hairdryer you could probably leave out of your suitcase. When it comes to clothing, bring only items that can mix and match. Make sure all tops go with your pair of jeans or that skirt with leggings. That way, you create more outfit looks with a small number of clothes.

And yes, you don’t want to use the crummy SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) laden toothpaste and mouth-drying alcohol based mouth rinse that the hotels provide; but carrying your regular full-sized 130gm toothpaste tube and 500ml mouth rinse is just not going to work right?

Unpredictable conditions

Brrrr! It’s going to be cold where you’re headed! So maybe 7 jackets, 5 shawls and 10 leggings? Unless you’re super afraid of the cold, there isn’t reason to bring so many winter items that you might end up probably not using. In many instances, weather can be highly unpredictable and you might not get the opportunity to head back to your accommodation to change to another jacket. So the best option is just to find one that’s best for the different weather situations you’re expecting, and that’s it! One jacket! That’s a lot more space in your suitcase for souvenirs!

And similarly, you never know if that 8 hour excursion is going to turn into an 18 hour one; meaning you have no time to brush your teeth after several meals. Save others from your bad breath and save face by carrying one of our ultra-portable breathsprays along with you.

Not leaving space for extra storage

Speaking of shopping, have you ever brought an extra empty suitcase to accommodate the tons of souvenirs and gifts you want to buy? Experienced travelers will tell you to buy a suitcase that can allow for expansion or to take along a foldable bag since some airlines will allow you to check in 2 or even 3 bags if it’s within the weight limit.

And of course, make sure that suitcase stays empty on your trip there by firstly, bringing smaller sized toiletries like our portable/travel-sized oral care products

Packing oversized toiletries in the wrong bag

So you should know by now that you’re only allowed to carry toiletries that are 100ml in capacity on board the plane in your carry-on luggage. Forgetting this rule and packing oversized toiletries in your check-in luggage can result in unwanted disputes with airport officials and even cause you to lose your items. And what if you are going on a short holiday and not checking in luggage? Or what if you need some of your toiletries with you on the plane?

Make sure you pack only travel-sized toiletries then, such as Pearlie White’s travel-sized oral care products. That way, you can make sure you’ve got everything you need for your trip without compromising on your personal health! Happy packing and happy travels!
